2024 BACE CHILDBIRTH EDUCATOR TRAINING workshop

The BACE Childbirth Educator Training Program is the first step to certification as a Childbirth Educator. This course provides the skills, curriculum development support, and mentoring you will need to be a resource for childbearing families.

​

To be certified, you will need to submit your childbirth education curriculum and be approved to teach a trial series and enrich your knowledge with continuing education credits.

​

BACE-Certified Educators are currently teaching in hospitals, community health centers, maternity and parenting centers and other professional locations, as well as independently.

Course overview

The BACE CBE Training Workshop offers:

  • 40 hours of instruction and discussion with experienced faculty members, who are experts in the fields of maternal health and obstetrics/midwifery

  • Practice and skill-building activities to increase readiness to teach. Upon completion of the program, participants will have developed an engaging BACE-approved curriculum complete with teaching activities and learner objectives

  • A READY TO TEACH customizable curriculum and access to the library of images through The Educated Birth

Classes include

Each of 10 sessions is made up of content review, curriculum development tips, and teaching technique​​s

  • Provision of resources and materials, with knowledge assessment of content for solid understanding

  • "Teachbacks:" practice facilitation sessions conducted twice during the course

  • Opportunities to gain insight from mentors, faculty, and co-participants

  • Eligibility to apply for the scholarship rate to Evidence Based Birth's Professional Membership with option to extend access, and up to 20 CEUs for completing all modules

To certify

These requirements must be completed to achieve certification as a BACE-Certified Childbirth Educator (BCCE):

  • Tuition paid in full

  • Completion of all Google Classroom assignments

  • Approved outline and curriculum

  • Interviews with a midwife and a new parent

  • Completion of Certification Series, observed by your BACE Faculty Mentor

    • There is a $250 fee for observation of your Certification Series, due upon scheduling

    • Certification Series must be 12 hours, and include a minimum of 3 pregnant people

Costs

The cost of BACE Childbirth Educator Training Workshop and certification are as follows:​

  • Course                  $1700

  • CBE observation     included in course cost

  • Certification series   $250, due upon scheduling this series (observed by mentor)

  • Materials                  Pregnancy, Childbirth & the Newborn (required text) = $12.95

  Professional Membership with Evidence Based Birth = current monthly rate​

Limited number of partial scholarships available for those planning to teach in underserved communities with wide health disparities.
