Evolution Perinatal Education Collaborative (EPEC) Childbirth Educator Training Program is the first step to certification as a Childbirth Educator. This course provides the skills, curriculum development support, and mentoring you will need to be a resource for childbearing families. It is live-led using the Zoom platform.

Evolution-Certified Educators can teach in hospitals, community health centers, maternity and parenting centers and other professional locations, as well as independently.

As your facilitator, I will act to:
-
Ensure my curriculum is current, evidence-based, and immediately useful to those that choose to learn alongside me
-
Strengthen those in Evolution training programs to achieve their goals in bringing comprehensive childbirth education to their communities, through meaningful knowledge assessment and certification processes
-
Build bridges with others doing important work in our larger birth community, amplify the historically unacknowledged voices, and to feature a diverse representation of experts in each of their fields to enrich us all
-
Be worthy of the trust of those who wish to learn with me, and to hope to be invited in by communities I am not inherently a part of
Are you...
-
A curious person with passion for serving pregnant people with knowledge and sensitivity and improving birth outcomes with better preparation
-
A driven person who took a lackluster training in the past, needing mentorship and a great curriculum to get to where you want to be

EPEC 2025...
Such an inspiration!

In 2025, 10 amazing registrants participated in the inaugural Evolution Perinatal Education Collaborative Childbirth Educator training workshop. This included:
-
Sarah McRell, a homebirth midwife and CNM with Embrace Midwifery
-
5 Cambridge Health Alliance doulas who serve a diverse community of expectant families at Cambridge Hospital. These doulas will be teaching in Spanish, Portuguese, English and Haitian Kreyol! We are very excited for Enedina Walsh, Martine DuBuisson, Eugenia Juarez, Flor Philippe, and Danielle DaSilva. Each of these passionate women taught me more about facilitating this training with a higher awareness and sensitivity to different languages and audiences than I'd ever known!
-
Allison Haley, a homebirth mom of 2 with a great passion for birth and more! She is currently teaching classes at Beyond Birthing in Beverly
-
Cheyenne Bell, the birth and postpartum doula behind Haven Place Doula, with a mission to bring childbirth education to those facing racial inequities and obstacles to resources
-
Lauren Miningham (not pictured), a new mom herself, with a history of serving unhoused populations and teen parents. She aspires to teach classes at Beverly Hospital
-
Dominique Bellegarde, a dedicated advocate, author of "Mom, I want Milk!," and community leader known for her passion in supporting families along their motherhood journey
We wish you congratulations on completing the training, and best of luck as you complete your certifications
